Any Hero cards...

I just made four of these pretty darn quick for the OWH Midweek Throwdown.  The challenge is to make an Any Hero card WITH a flag on it.  The stamp and sentiment are by A-muse Studio and the set is called "Let Freedom Ring"...

I wrote and colored 23 Any Hero notes a week and a half ago while with the Taxman (we were there for over six hours but came out unscathed).  I've slowly been making card fronts for them to add to my next box to OWH.  All my notes are the same in this batch which is why I wrote so many while with him... no thinking was involved.

The starburst in the upper left is an odd size, which is okay for Any Hero mail... thank goodness.  The starburst in the upper right and lower left is where you leave a little of the background paper showing betweeen each burst.  Pretty darn cool effect!  I had seen something like it, a 12"x 12" version, and wanted to do it in my Project Life album.  It took my Math genius husband to explain to me what I was seeing.  After he explained it, my lightbulb went on...

Thank God for genius husbands... :)

Burgers anyone?

This is a Midweek Throwdown from a couple weeks ago (see HERE).  I only made ONE during the actual week of the challenge for Ernie's son Christopher (who turned 14) but didn't take a picture before we hand delivered it.  SO, I've been thinking about it ever since.  These are SO cool... and makes me crave a good burger off the grill.

Special features: The burger was run thru the Big Shot using the Swiss Dots folder for texture.  I used Scribbles Bright Yellow Fabric paint for the cheese.  I stamped lines on the white paper and covered with Glossy Accents for the onion.  The lettuce is Dritz 5/8" Ruffle Elastic.

SO, 2 more of the rainbow from the previous post and 6 of these makes 36 cards made in the month of June using only product I have in my Studio... :)

♥•*¨*•♫♪ ♥ I will Remember Massachusetts ♥•*¨*•♫♪ ♥

Here is the state flag from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Our motto, "By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty".  This is the state the Pilgrims first landed on in 1620.  The home of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692.  The sixth state to enter the Union.  The state I was born in.  The state forever in my heart...

For the Midweek Throwdown over on the Stars and Stamps blog, the challenge was to make a card using the colors of your state's flag.  Since I am away for the weekend (in another state...lol), I didn't have access to very much of my stuff so this card is a little lacking in interest.  However comma, I felt Massachusetts just needed to be represented.  In the blue scrap folder I found the two blues, one already embossed... score!  And a light yellow from the yellow folder.  I snagged a doily from the pantry to represent the white, popped the sentiment... and there you have it.  An entry for my beloved Massachusetts.
It's a "wicked pissah!"...

Another Midweek Throwdown...

A no sentiment card for the current Midweek Throwdown.  I used scrap paper from my endless supply.  Each banner is 3.5" long and cut in varying widths.  I covered the ends with a 5.25" x 1" strip and a 5.25"  x .25" strip.  The f'lower is from a copics class I took at my LSS several months ago.  I didn't know what to do with it but it works well here... don't you think?

Every heart beats true...

Another Midweek Throwdown and it's right up my alley!  A color challenge (red, white and blue) AND an "Any Hero" card.  I finally got to use a stamp set that I've had for a few weeks.  My last shipment to Operation Write Home for 2012 went out on Monday with the FINAL twenty-six cards from the students at Marblehead High School.  I'm free and clear!!  Until Zack decides to do this again in the Spring...

Products used...
  • Neenah Desert storm and Recollections red paper
  • Let Freedom Ring stamp set from Amuse Studio
  • White Gel Pen
  • Tim Holtz' Barn Door, Faded Jeans and Black Soot inks
  • Button from the zillions I have
  • Bead Cording

Midweek Throwdown...

For all that we are grateful for this month, here is my thank-you card for the Midweek Throwdown at OWH.  The leaves are punched from a Creative Memories punch and embossed with different folders to add depth.  The sentiment is by Ditto and was found in a dollar bin at Jo-Ann Fabrics and then popped with dimensionals.  Add some bling and scrap paper and voilĂ ... a quick and easy card!

Midweek Throwdown...

Here's my entry for the Midweek Throwdown Color Challenge over on the Stars and Stamps blog.  It's been a LONG time since I've done a challenge.  This challenge was to make a red and green card.  This also fullfills my personal challenge to make at least five Christmas cards a month (see side bar).  At least this month I have LOTS of days to spare... none of that last minute stuff!  ...lol

Things with wings...

This weeks Midweek Throwdown on the Stars and Stamps blog is to make "Things with Wings".  This card is one of the very first I learned to do.  My mentor Barb, sent me the stamps and inks along with directions.  This might even be "the card" that made me want to do cardmaking instead of scrapbooking... but I'm not sure.  If not, it's pretty close!  The butterflies are from a Stampin' Up set called Two-Step Stampin' Simple Sketches ( I never, and I mean never, understood why it was called "two-part" when it is CLEARLY a three-part process... but anyway).  The sentiment is from a collection by Hero Arts called Holiday Ribbons which I found on Ebay when I knew I wanted to continue making this card.  I'm so glad that the season is upon us again!  Ten of these are ready for my next box to OWH...

Tropical Colors Challenge...

This week's Midweek Throwdown Challenge is to use tropical colors.  I CASE'd this from something I saw on Pinterest.  It's similar but I'd have to say, mine's not as dynamic.  I'm not sure what is missing though...

Another Midweek Throwdown Entry...

This weeks Midweek Throwdown over on the Stars and Stamps blog is to make something Patriotic.  Considering I've been living and breathing Patriotic cards since February... you just KNOW I had to make an entry.  These two cards are CASE'd from two wonderful ladies that have helped Zack and I with our "Any Hero" project from the students at MHS by sending us card fronts and coloring in notes.  I still need to CASE one from Susan in New Jersey but for now, there's just these two. The first is CASE'd from Krystil in North Carolina and the second is CASE'd from Sherry in Ohio.  I've met so many wonderful people thru the facebook page of OWH and I just wanted to say a public "Thank-you ladies!  You're the bestest!"...

My first ever Midweek Throwdown...

I took a Northwoods Card Class at my LSS yesterday and it fits in nicely with the Midweek Throwdown on the Stars and Stamps Blog of Operation Write Home.  These were colored in with copics that were supplied by the class.  Some of these colors were a little dry from overuse so I struggled with blending.  I would however, like to add a couple of these to my collection.  I loved the Honey (Y38) and Green Apple (G14), they were lovely.
