Last shipment to OWH... :(

This is the last box of cards made exclusively by me that will be arriving in Seattle today for Operation Write Home.  They are not accepting donations after August 1st as they conclude their "Finish Strong" campaign, see HERE.  Their mission is complete.  It is certainly a bittersweet feeling for me.  Years of searching for a way to support our troops before I found OWH, culminated in a match made in heaven.  In the five years that I've been donating cards, the quality of my cardmaking has grown exponentially .  What I learned from tutorials, OWHtv, Sandy Allnock and other cardmakers has been one of the best educations I have ever received.  Thank you Sandy, from the bottom of my heart, for passing on your expertise...

Although the focus is different now, I do not intend to give up making cards and certainly will be on the lookout for other organizations in which to donate.  However comma, I do LOVE sending to family and friends... {insert BIG smiley face here}  :)

  1. What a super box of cards. I particularly love the kite (I got one of these from you, giant hugs) and the rainbow colored candles. But all of your cards are super. I'm there with you in sentiment about the end of OWH, and how much I've grown as a card maker too through this great organization. And now I know YOU! I've still a long way to go to beat you, but I am so glad to have you in my life now. <3

    1. OWH was one of the greatest experiences I've ever had but the people, my GOD, the people I have met and connected with along the way will forever be a part of my life. Your friendship means the world to me TK. We NEED to meet one day... :)

  2. Your work is extraordinarily creative and I can say, from experience, that a card from you will be a bright burst of color and bring a smile to the face of anyone lucky enough to receive a greeting from you. So generous are you to donate your hours of crafting efforts to brighten the day of others. Keep creating.

  4. What a wonderful box of cards! They are all lovely, but I am partial to the coffee cup one. I have the stamp, but have yet to use it. I always enjoy getting snail mail from you, it brings a smile to my day!

  6. Beautiful box of cards, you should feel really proud to have donated so many through those years. I hope you will find another organization that you can donate too.

  7. What a beautiful bunch of cards! Yours are always awesome! I share your feelings about OWH.I learned to be a cardmaker through OWH and I love that we made a difference in lives and that we could makes our heroes deployments just a bit easier. The best thing though is the people I' ve "met" and the friendships I've made. I will be forever grateful to OWH.

  8. Very nice cards Cindy and I reflect too on my card making and how much it has changed and what I have learned and most important all the wonderful friends I have made and some of them, I have never even met. It was a most wonderful experience while it lasted. I am just glad that all of us members did not fold up like OWH is going to do. We all must "stay strong".

  9. Cindy, I love your cards and echo your sentiments about OWH. I was new to card making when I found OWH 5 years ago. Sandy has been such an encouragement to grow in our skills. I never would have invested in Copics with out seeing her color on You Tube. I haven't connected with many people online, mostly I've grown friendships by having a few ladies over to my house once a month. It's been lots of fun. Thanks for sharing.
