My new found friend Sherry, a fellow cardmaker for OWH, sent me an email with a similar card and I CASE'd it. First, I heat embossed the image (Jumbo Peony by Stampendous) on white paper with clear emboss. Then starting in the lower left corner, I began distressing with Tim Holtz distress inks going right up over the image. Since I like rainbows, I switched it up till I got to the upper right corner. Then (this is the fun part), I put the image between newspaper and ironed OFF the clear emboss. I had the iron set to cotton. Finally, I stamped the sentiment in the upper right hand corner using a Stamp-a-ma-jig to be sure it was straight. And there you have it, a very distressing card...
I didn't iron off the clear emboss on mine. What was the purpose of that? Did it make the embossing spread out more? If so, I will have to try that! Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteYour card is gorgeous. I like the rainbow effect.
Thanks for mentioning my name!
By ironing off the emboss, it makes the paper feel smooth. There is no raised image and it appears brighter. I learned THAT technique in a class I took at my LSS last year. I had never tried it... until now! So, once again, combining this and that to create a card... :)
DeleteCindy, I love your rainbow colors on this card and that embossed flower is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this card, Cindy! Thanks for sharing "how to"!!
ReplyDeletePrinting off your picture and adding the instructions. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome. Have fun with that... and don't forget to post pictures! :)
DeleteNeat! I just bought my first few distress inks last weekend. I'll have to try this if I have any colors that look decent together. By the way, I love the title of this post!
ReplyDeleteThanks... I got a kick out of the title too. Just keeping the humor alive as best I can...
DeleteAbsolutely stunning!!!! Whenever I use distress inks they never come out that bright! Great job Cindy!!!
